Hi you.  I’m Michele. I’m constantly dreaming with God about new ways to share His heart and message.

A little about me…

Author & Illustrator. Missions Mentor & Mobilizer. Grace clinger. Pixel tamer. Sunset gazer. Creative Catalyst. Dream Wrangler. Wonder Curator. Paradigm Iconoclast. Storyteller & Speaker.  Living proof that God can use anyone who dares to say yes to Him.

I’m also the world’s most unlikely candidate for almost everything in my life. I’m the girl who the world told to be realistic and settle down with my limitations.  Born without my left hip and leg and with a myriad of other congenital abnormalities, I had quite a few limits to consider.  But, I’m just not the kind to settle.

I walked right into a war zone in Africa in 2006 with Jesus and saw hundreds of children’s lives transformed by Him. Me. The girl who thinks mascara belongs in a survival kit and whose idea of camping is a spa day spent 7 years {2006-2013} without running water or electricity in an African war zone rescuing children who were being trafficked or exploited.

I founded an international ministry base with a children’s rescue home , church plants and primary school along with many other community projects for Iris Global {Heidi & Rolland Baker}. It is still impacting hundreds of lives and changing the shape of its community in South Sudan bordering DR Congo. I got to walk out the dream of a lifetime with my Sudanese family to see a new nation be born from the ashes of war.  What an epic journey.

After 18 rounds with cerebral malaria and multiple other tropical illnesses, my health crashed in late 2012-2013 and my nervous, immune and adrenal systems all but shut down forcing me to move back to the USA.  The last 2 years have been the battle of my life fighting to get my health back. I’m finally well enough to step into a new season of ministry even though there are many long term repercussions I still deal with.

But with much wisdom and heaps of grace, I’m ready to move forward and see what Jesus wants to do on the journey ahead.

My time in Africa taught me many things about embracing the bravest journey of all.  To become exactly who I am created to be and find all I am in all He is. The journeys that matter most always start inside us.

A FEW FUN FACTS

  • I’m an illustrator specializing in watercolor, ink and water-based mixed media and visual branding. I dream of using illustration and the visual arts for creative advocacy and awareness raising efforts for projects and organizations I’m passionate about.
  • I wore mascara 90% of the time in the bush.  It really does belong in a survival kit.  I promise.
  • I offer seminars on creative prayer journaling {think art journaling meets prayer and Scripture meditation}.
  • I’m a branding strategist, which means I help individuals, businesses, organizations and ministries discover more of who they truly are & develop a creative, congruent strategy that authentically communicates their story to their ideal audiences.
  • I’m the youth director at the church I grew up at.
  • I’m a grad student studying for my MA in Organizational Leadership.
  • I got ordained on a wobbly stage under a tent in Mozambique by a bunch of African pastors, Heidi and the team from Iris Global.
  • I’m pretty sure coffee is a food group.  I’m learning how to make it with an Aeropress.
  • I founded Create 61, with a vision for an Isaiah 61 mandate to raise up healthy leaders who are walking in the fullness of God’s Kingdom and who are prepared for urban and/or cross cultural missions.
  • Starting in 2016 I’ll be traveling regularly for speaking engagements as I love, really love, to see people encounter God’s heart, experience more of the full reality of His Kingdom and step into who they are created to be. So invite me to come hang out, share some stories and drink coffee.   Get in touch to find out more.
  • Love Has A Face, my first book, chronicles my first two years in South Sudan pioneering the ministry base there. My second book, An Invitation to the Supernatural Life was released to five star reviews in 2012 and is a practical exploration about how to walk deeply, intimately and powerfully with Jesus.  Several more writing projects are on the table as we speak.
  • This is my 20th year in missions.  Time to leverage all that wonderful experience and help raise up a movement of wholehearted, love-emboldened missionaries ready to follow Jesus wherever He goes.

I love seeing people connect with God’s heart and be released into the more we are created for in Him.  It would be a joy to serve your congregation, organization, group, event or region: just contact me to start a conversation!
